CARL REINER
Carl Reiner (March 20, 1922 – June 29, 2020) was one of the most talented comedy writers and performers of our lifetime.
Perhaps best known for playing (and writing) the character of Alan Brady on The Dick Van Dyke Show, he had a wide-ranging career in TV and movies, including voicing the character of Sarmoti in the 2005 Siegfried and Roy animated TV show Father Of the Pride.
During the early years of television comedy from 1950 to 1957, was a writer and an on-screen performer for the legendary comedy sketch TV program Your Show of Shows, starring Sid Caesar.
One of the skits on the show was Carl Reiner as the Roving Reporter, interviewing Sid Caesar as Professor Hocus Von Pocus.
Watch Sid Caesar do a really entertaining version of the MULTIPLYING BOTTLES...
The magic skit was so popular with the audience that they did a second magic skit in late 1956, featuring Sid Caesar as magician Houdini Von Hoffmier.
This was a much more elaborate and polished comedy sketch in which both comedians performed some fun magic effects.
