Back in the late 1980s, I had a magic shop in Watervliet, New York called The Old Curiosity Shop.
Being the only magic shop in the area, and also being a "regular" on local television, I was often asked to provide magical talent for a news story.
To promote the local Big Brothers program, Channel 13 sent a reporter to cover one of the boys spending an afternoon in a magic shop.
The reporter who did the segment at my shop was Chris Kapostasy, a talented and energetic reporter with great TV presentation skills.
It was obvious to everyone that this reporter would go far.
Let me tell you about the time Chris Jansing reported from The Old Curiosity Shop...

I am a retired senior citizen who has been an amateur magician since my high school years and who has held membership with IBM and FCM. I have been around for many years, but I am always fascinated by your presentations with trick demos. Your sense of instant humor in patter and ease in performance keeps me laughing. The interview that you did with the news reporter and the modeling with the young boy further reinforces my concept of the great talented magician that you are. Keep it up! Nathaniel G. Higgs
