This is an amazing mental "totaling" effect. It's easy to do, and requires NO FORCES or SLEIGHTS.Just follow the easy instructions!
Show your spectator five double back playing cards. Each card has a number printed on each side, and the two numbers are different.You also display five red paper cases.When each card is put into the case, the large circles on the cases will hide the numbers on the cards.
While your back is turned, the spectator freely places each card into a case.He then mixes the cases randomly, then lays the cases on the table, side by side.At this point neither you or the spectator knows which numbers are under the circles in each case.
HERE COMES THE MAGIC!When you turn around to face your spectator, you INSTANTLY announce the total of the five numbers under the circles!One by one, the cards are removed face up from the red holders.The five numbers that were under the circles are added together.THE TOTAL OF THE FIVE NUMBERS MATCHES THE TOTAL YOU ANNOUNCED!
Yes, the trick can be repeated- and the total will most likely be DIFFERENT every time!
And that's all you need!For the convenience of your spectator, you may want to supply them with a calculator. :-)
