Quirky, vintage and VERY RARE!We've only seen this one other time! From the estate collection of a professional magician who collected antique magic props.
This tiny metal prop is a cup with a small post attached to it.Painted eggshell color, the post is inserted into the end of an ordinary drinking straw. The magician takes an ordinary egg, and "balances" it on the end of the straw.Of course, the egg is really resting on the little cup end of the prop!
What a conversation piece!
40 years ago, one of our senior-aged magicians brought one of these into our Old Curiosity Shop in upstate NY.The prop had belonged to his father, who had purchased it in 1900 from a Troy, New York magic shop called Closson Magic Company. Our magic shop was less than two miles from the site of the original Closson magic shop, which burned in 1931.Our customer gifted the prop to us, and it sits proudly in one of our showcases. So we recognized this rare item when we recently found it in an estate collection!
CONDITION: very good for its ageThe paint is chipping. The cup is very tiny- less than 0.5" diameter, made of metalPLEASE SEE PHOTOSYou supply a regular straw and an egg.
