Long off the market, the Vanishing Lock On Stemmed Glass is one of those great magic effects that was very popular a few decades ago, but is very hard to come by today.

THE EFFECT:
You hand a solid brass padlock to your spectator and ask him or her to open the lock.
He needs a key, of course,
You produce a long-stemmed glass containing the key, which you tip into the spectator’s hand. The spectator opens the lock, and locks it again to make sure that both key and lock are working properly.
The spectator keeps the key in his hand- the key cannot be switched!
The closed padlock is placed into the glass by the spectator.
You cover the glass with the sparkly silver cloth.
You swish the glass a little so that the padlock can be heard clinking against the glass.
You remove the cloth and PRESTO!
The lock has vanished from inside the glass, and is now firmly locked around its stem.
The spectator then opens the lock with the key which he has held in his hand the whole time.
