Thomas Yost was one of the first American manufacturers of magic apparatus.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Yost first opened for business in 1870.

Yost was a believer in advertising. His frequent ads in Sphinx magazine attracted customers that included all the top magical stars of the day.

Yost was so successful that he was able to retire in 1902, hiring "Ned" Collins to manage the business. In 1914, Yost sold the company and a warehouse of stock to Clyde Powers.

Soon after, Powers sold much of the apparatus to Frank Ducrot, who used it to stock the shelves of his Hornmann Magic shop in New York.
