Tenyo's magic line is famous for the ingenious methods used, and this one is no exception.

The effect is based on the ancient art of DOWSING, where two rods are used to locate hidden objects.
In true dowsing, it is supposedly the energy given off by the objects that make the rods move.
The dowser loosely holds a rod in each hand, positioned so that the long rods are parallel to the ground, and parallel to each other.
The dowser then slowly moves across the space in question, looking for a specific item in the ground, usually metal ore or water.
If the rods detect the presence of the object, they will suddenly move apart from each other (or they will cross over each other, depending on the method used).

In this Tenyo effect, the spectatr takes the object to be found (a card, a coin, or some other flat item) and places it in a black envelope.
He is then given three other identical black envelopes.
He mixes them up, and then lays them out, side by side, on the table.
You then take the two rods, and explaining to the spectator how dowsing works, place the rods into the holder.
You start with the rods parallel to each other.
As you pass the rods over the envelopes, the rods stay parallel- UNTIL THEY PASS OVER ONE OF THE ENVELOPES.
The spectator can open the envelope- and out comes the hidden object!
