HISTORY: The Susan B. Anthony dollar is a United States dollar coin, intended as a replacement for the larger Eisenhower dollar. The silver color coin was minted minted from 1979 to 1981 when production was suspended due to poor public acceptance. The coin was no popular as currency because it was too close in size to a US quarter. The coin was brought back in 1999, but then quickly replaced by the Sacajawea dollar coin, which was gold in color, and easier to distinguish from the US quarter.
MAGICAL USES:
Fun story: In 1980, Peter and Jackie performed in Washington D.C. and stayed at a very upscale hotel. The kind with uniformed doormen. One doorman opened the hotel door for them, and Peter tipped him with five Susan B. Anthony coins, a generous $5 tip for just opening a door.Without looking at the coins, the doorman tossed them to the ground with a sneer, clearly signalling that he thought Peter had handed him a few quarters, or a small tip. After Peter pointed out that the doorman had thrown away $5, the doorman scrambled to pick up the coins. And that doorman apologetically made sure that Peter and Jackie got top service from him for the rest of their stay.
