What is a shim shell? This shim shell is the EXACT SAME SIZE as a penny, but is only a hollowed-out shell. It DOES NOT fit over a penny.You CAN hide a smaller coin like a dime underneath it.The shim shell is also able to stick to a magnet.

You can use this coin to change a penny into a dime. Place the Shim Shell on your hand with a dime coin hidden underneath. Palm off the shell in your favorite manner (and since the shell is shimmed, a magnet can be used) to make it appear as though the penny has changed to a dime.
