Good magic is simple!
Show a length of rope.
As you are showing the rope, a section of it jumps from your hand to the inside of your jacket and up your sleeve.
Tug on the rope and then the same thing happens in your other hand.
The rope is now shown to be running across your chest and out your sleeves.
When you rub the rope across your chest, it "melts" right through your chest to your back.
At the end, you make the rope "melt" through your waist.
Yet when the rope is pulled from your sleeves, the rope is shown to be one solid length of rope!

This effect is made to be performed as an opening effect or after a costume change.
It uses a piece of rope gimmicked with a reel, which restricts your movements.
And you must be wearing a coat or jacket.
