Great Ovette (January 20, 1885 – August 5, 1946) whose full name was Joseph Ovette, was a professional magician and prolific author of magic books and effects.A real showman, he wrote a lot of material about publicity stunts like being buried alive and blindfold drives. Under the name Lung Chan Yuen, he was known for his hanging illusion act that was advertised as "The Man They Couldn't Hang".He also performed the "blindfold drive", driving a car while blindfolded through the streets of Ottawa.Ovette also did a crystal gazing act as "Mar-Jah".Though there were several imitators using the same name, there is no question that Ovette was the original.
