Hard to find coin set, probably circa 1930!From the collection of a retired professional magician.
DESCRIPTION:A nice example of a coin trick probably from one of Mysto's better magic sets!
The metal coin set consists of a decorated coin and an expanded shell that fits over the coin. Both sides of the coin, as well as the shell, display the same image of Mysto's famous Dancing Devil.
This coin comes with no instructions, but you could use it just as you would use an expanded coin shell and its corresponding real coin, to make it look like the coin is multiplying into two, and vanishing back into one coin.
Of course, this coin also has value to the magic coin collector as well!
Mysto Magic Sets were sold by the Mysto Magic Company, started by A. C. Gilbert and John Petrie (later of Petrie & Lewis) in 1909.The company later became the A. C. Gilbert Company. Most magicians in the earlier part of the 20th century got their first taste of magic when they received a Mysto Magic Set!
This is NOT meant to be a finely made coin set! This was made as a toy for children. The images on the coin are rather crude- that's how they were made.It is amazing that it survived someone's childhood- and with BOTH pieces still together!
CONDITION: fair to good- shows wear. Coin is metal, about the size of a half dollar.Has smooth edge.
