Grimace was first introduced in 1971 as "Evil Grimace." He had the same purple shape, but had four arms and, in a commercial at the time, swiped all of the cups from McDonaldland to stop anyone from having milkshakes or Coca-Cola. Unfortunately, like the original Hamburglar, Grimace scared the kids! With a new name and only two arms, Grimace was reintroduced in 1972 as the soft, plush, two-armed blob of a sweetheart who only wants McDonald's milkshakes and to hang out with Ronald. And exactly what is Grimace?Originally designed to represent a giant taste bud (yes, really!), McDonald's quickly changed the concept to be "the embodiment of a delicious milkshake", which also made no sense. Finally, McDonald's just let him be- the Grimace, with no further explanations!
This is an official Grimace pen, dated 1980 on the back.It has never been used, and the lanyard is still in its original wrapping around the pen.It also has its original plastic envelope wrapper, which has yellowed a bit with age.
CONDITION: very good to excellent.Pen has never been used- lanyard has never been unwrapped. Pen with Grimace topper is about 5.5" long.INK HAS DRIED UP - it's 45 years old!!
