Pippin

Although specific magic effects are not named in the script, productions of Pippin often use simple but flashy magic to help establish the show's magical atmosphere.

The opening number, Magic to Do, is a natural place to use quick bursts of magic to immediately capture the audience's attention. Appearing canes, flowers, silks and other colorful productions can create flashes of surprise, color and movement across the stage.

Because there is already plenty happening during the number, the effects should be quick and uncomplicated. The tricks we've selected require very little technical skill, allowing the performers to concentrate on their characters, choreography and timing while the magic does its job.
