Just a bit of rehearsal, of course!

Though specific magic effects are not mentioned by name in the script,
most performances of Pippin rely on simple but flashy magic tricks
to open the production.

The opening number, "Magic To Do", is a great opportunity to get the audience excited by quick, colorful visuals.
This can be accomplished using some automatic magic tricks which are easy to do and can be kept in the hand.
There is plenty going on so it is important that the magic tricks integrate smoothly into the action.
The idea is to create lots of quick flashes of color and motion to create the magical feeling.
