Lucille Roberts was a female comedy mentalist who worked a nightclub second-sight act with her husband, Robert (real name Edwin Gaillard). Their heyday was in the 1930's to the 1960's.

She was born in central Virginia to Charles and Mary "Madie" Roberts. She married Edwin G. Gaillard on Oct. 31, 1930 in New York.

For several years after their marriage, they struggled to find their niche in show business. In 1938, they were hired by the famous magician Nicola who featured their straight telepathy act as a segment of his stage show. When Nicola's show was lost in a shipwreck in 1939, the Roberts launched their solo career, concentrating on nightclub bookings.

Their comedic approach to the traditional second-sight act made them very popular. Eddie would mingle with the audience members while a blindfolded Lucille would sit onstage, attempting to name the objects that Eddie would hold in the air. Their comedic exchange would grow more and more humourous, until the two would have a disagreement. Eddie would then take over the role of the psychic, with Lucille in the audience.

During WWII, they were one of the many acts who toured with the U.S.O. to entertain the troops.

Special thanks to Ruth DeBrito, who contacted us after perusing the Roberts' show business scrapbooks, and provided information to this biography.
