From 1908 until the mid-1930's, Norwood was a major vaudeville star, a singer and actor with incredible musical ability. Norworth partnered with his wife, the superstar singer Nora Bayes, from 1908 until their divorce in 1913, in an act that was the top of the bill. After the divorce, Norworth went on to star in a series of successful shows, some of which he also wrote.

An accomplished magician, Norworth incorporated magic into the plots of several of his shows.

He was a Life Member of the Parent Assembly of the Society of American Magicians in New York, holding Membership No. 405.
