On July 3, 2002, the U.S. Postal Service honored world-famous magician Harry Houdini with a commemorative postage stamp. This is a FULL UNCUT sheet of 20 stamps from that limited printing.
Since magic is the art of illusion, the designers added a special touch to this stamp. The stamp actually has a hidden image embedded in it. When the stamp is held under a special decoder, Houdini appears shackled in chains!

The US Postal Service produced some "Scrambled Indicia" stamps with a hidden image between the years 1997 and 2004. These hidden images/messages could only be viewed through a special device called the "Stamp Decoder".The "Stamp Decoder" is an optical lens manufactured for reading hidden images and symbols on selected US Stamp issues. Each decoder lens comprises thousands of tiny elongated lenses called "lenticules".In the early 2000s, this decoder was available directly from the USPS, but no longer. You can still find a few available from stamp dealers (they are pricey- about $25).
What makes this so special is that these are OFFICIAL U.S. STAMPS, printed by the U.S. Postal Service. Yes, you can use them for mailing letters, if you want! But they are truly terrific collectibles for the magic enthusiast.
Back in 2002, we purchased a small quantity of these stamps when they were originally issued by the USPS.We've reached into the vault to offer you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own your own Houdini stamps. When these are gone- POOF!- they're gone!
You can store the stamp sheet as is, or you may want to put it in a frame for display. Either way, this is a fantastic keepsake at a BARGAIN price!
Does NOT come with a decoder.
