ONE OF A KIND COLLECTIBLE!Though this is not exactly magic- it is magical to us!This book has been in our personal autographs collection for nearly 40 years. The approximate value of all of the signatures is well over $750 (based on market values obtained from reputable autograph dealers' websites). Johnny Cash's signature alone goes for hundreds of dollars- and there are TWO in this collection!Likewise, Tammy Wynette's and Marty Robbins' signatures also fetch prices higher than what you'll pay for this book.PLUS the book itself is a fascinating read- a time capsule of the world of country music back in 1975!
This is a 1975 paperback book, HONKY TONK HEROES, with glued-in clipped autographs of 34 country western music stars of the day. The autographs were obtained by the original collector who met each of the celebrities in person, then the signatures were clipped to size and pasted into this book next to the artists' profiles. There are some big names here, including Johnny Cash, Porter Wagonner and Tammy Wynette. Some of the stars have two signature clippings.

BOOK DESCRIPTION FROM PUBLISHER: A marvelously evocative picture and text book about a true slice of contemporary Americana - the people who play, sing and compose country music. In the last few years country music has shed its hillbilly image and has swept America as never before, taking on new glamour, with millionaire stars as fabulous as any in Holloywood or in the entire music business. But the music still remains 'country,' and this book focuses on all the stars and all their styles: the Telecaster cowboy outlaws, the Kings and Queens of Country, the New Wave, the Good Ole Boys (and a few Good Ole Gals), and the Plastic Rose Country Dream Living that pervades so much of Nashville. A book to enchant, and instruct, music fans, old and new.
CONDITION: good.Corners have bumping and shelf wear. Some age discoloration of the pages and paper inside.Book is 154 pages, softbound.
Did you know that several major country stars also enjoy/enjoyed performing closeup magic tricks?Dolly Parton has related a few stories about her experiences working with Porter Wagoner, who loved pulling pranks and doing simple magic tricks for both his backstage fans and his crew.Jerry Reed was known to entertain Burt Reynolds with magic tricks between takes when they were making their movies.Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson were big fans of magic (see the clip below of Johnny Cash with Steve Martin), and had a few tricks up their sleeves. When we met them backstage after a concert in the mid-1990s, and told them we were magicians, we were delighted to be treated to a few sleight of hand tricks they knew. And of course, Willie Nelson is proud of his rendition of "Sam the Bellhop", and has even posted a performance on his YouTube.
