Business envelope used by HEANEY while on the road with his show, circa 1940s.UNUSED but shows age!
Gerald Heaney (1899 - 1974) was a stage magician and magic supplier from Berlin, Wisconsin. "Heaney the Great" and his magic show toured North America for a number of years during the mid 1900's. Friends with Blackstone Sr., Heaney saw Blackstone's successful partnership with Percy Abbott as a sign that there was money to be made as a magic supplier. Thus, for over 50 years, he operated a successful magic mailorder business as well as touring with his own stage show.Besides Blackstone, Heaney became well-acquainted with Thurston and Dante. After Thurston died in 1936, the Heaneys acquired his illusions, props and personal effects. They housed Thurston's equipment at their farm in Berlin, gradually adding some of the illusions to their own two-hour show. Eventually, long after Gerald's death, the barn and its contents were sold to another magic dealer in the late 1980s.Thus, the many treasures from Thurston's trunks as well as all of the magical items from Heaney's magic and novelties business survived the dumpster and were made available to magic collectors.
