DESCRIPTION FROM THE PUBLISHER: EARLY ALFRED HITCHCOCK FILM!Based on a play by prolific writer and journalist Joseph Jefferson Farjeon, this comedic yet suspenseful 1932 remake of a 1928 silent film follows the adventures of Detective Gilbert Fordyce (John Stuart) in his efforts to capture a gang of jewel thieves. The discovery of a dead man at a mysterious hous (Number 17) leads Fordyce on a twisting trail of disappearing bodies and hidden loot. The detective seeks necessary assistance from the gang leader's girlfriend (Anne Grey) and his pursuit of the criminals eventually culminates in an exciting chase involving a train and a bus.
