Doreen Palmer was an English comedy actress who got into magic when she married comedy magician Jay Palmer.

He was already established as a comedy magician, so when she joined the act, she needed to add something different to what he was doing.

With her pert good looks, she was the perfect "bored" assistant, who begrudgingly brings props onstage, helps with the effect, and then drags herself offstage again, only to repeat everything again for the next routine. With each trick, her condescending attitude became funnier and funnier to the audience.

The Palmers' signature routine was the Magic Kettle, a neverending liquid pouring effect.

The Palmers enjoyed a long and active career, touring with their wonderfully entertaining act into the 1960's.
