GENTLY USED - NOW OFF THE MARKET!From the estate of a retired professional magician and magic collector.
The idea of a selected card rising by itself out of a box is not a new idea, by any means. It was actually a favorite trick of stage magicians in Houdini's day. However, those card boxes worked by elaborate means such as hidden threads or magnets, and were very cumbersome to operate. In 1946, legendary magic inventor Jack Hughes developed the idea that is used by this box.Self contained, easily operated, with no strings or magnets needed. This model is truly a thing of beauty!
THE EFFECT:One or several card is chosen by a spectator from a deck of cards. The deck is placed in the box.Suddenly the lid of the box will open up- and a card will rise out of the box!Yes, it's a chosen card! Several cards can be chosen and will rising from the box one at the time.
This wood box is contemporary, but was one of the first of the Jack Hughes style remakes.A lot of care and attention to detail went into the manufacture. There have been many knockoffs in recent years (usually painted) but this is really nicely made!
CONDITION: very good- gently used.Very minor rubbing on front bottom edge.Box is finished wood.About 4" x 5" x 3.75".YOU GET THE EXACT BOX YOU SEE IN THE PHOTOS.Cards are not included.
