Matter through matter!
This one is startling, because the ending is totally unexpected!It's a safe but surprising version of the “finger chopper” effect, but using playing cards.
Show a set of cards, each one with a hole punched through it.The hole is big enough to poke your finger through it.Stack all the cards together so that the holes line up.Take one card in the stack and jog it up so that the hole can be seen in position at the top of the cards.You can let your spectator poke his finger through all the holes in the rest of the cards.Or you can use YOUR finger, or a wand, or a pencil, etc.When all is ready, you push the jogged-up card straight down so that it is even with the rest of the cards.It goes right through the finger!BUT WAIT!When you remove all the cards from the finger, one at a time, everyone can see that the jogged-up card is also over the finger!How did that happen??

You can use a wand or a pencil instead of a finger.
