Show your spectator two arch-shaped fans of playing cards.
What is notable is that the cards are really printed as one solid piece- the cards on each arch can't move around.
Point out that the cards shown are all different.
Place one arch above the other- you now see that one arch that is longer than the other.
Invite your spectator to silently choose one of the cards, either on the longer arch or the shorter one.
Ask him to remember not only the card, but remember which arch that card is in.
Now turn the arches over so that you only see the backs of the cards.
Ask the spectator which arch contains his card.
Turn that arch over face up, and ask him to point out his card.
HE CAN'T - HIS CARD IS MISSING!
Turn over the other arch and let him look.
HIS CARD HAS MOVED ONTO THE OTHER ARCH!

This effect is based on science, and the way our brains perceive the spatial relationship of images.
You can either use it as an educational tool- or just have fun with it!
