Mark Elsdon's BUT NOT HERE is an amazing effect that wows lay audiences and fools the pants off magicians.

THE EFFECT:
The magician randomly cuts to a card in the deck.
He shows the card to the spectator, and asks him to name a card of the opposite pip color, and opposite type of value than the card the magician chose. Example- if the magician cut to a Jack of Hearts, the spectator would name a card with a BLACK pip (a Spade or a Club) and would choose a value that is NOT a pciture card.
So, in this case, the spectator could name the Seven of Clubs.
At this point, the spectator can change his mind and name another similar card (black pip and not a picture card) as many times as he wants until he settles on a specific card.
Let's say he chooses the Nine of Clubs instead.
The magician removes his cut-to card and places it face up on the table.
Then he removes the spectator's chosen card and places it on the table too.
He tells the spectator that he has written a prediction of what card will be chosen, and written it on a Post-It note.
He then asks the spectator to turn over a pad of Post-It notes to see the prediction.
"But Not Here" says the Post It note!
Instead, the magician turns over his cut-to card- and there is a Post It note on it.
The name of the spectator's chosen card is written on that Post-It note!
