This die box uses an unusual and deceptive method!
Terrific surprise effect- they think they know how the trick works, but it turns out they are wrong!
Start by placing an empty hat or other container on your table. Bring out a bright yellow wooden block and a bright blue wood box that has two compartments and four doors- two in the front and two on the top. As you open all the doors, your spectators can see right through the openings in the box- it's really empty!
Now you place the block into the left compartment and close the doors. Tell your audience that the block has "disappeared" and tilt the box to one side. Your audience can hear the block sliding into the right compartment! You open the left hand door to "prove" the block is gone. Of course, they tell you that the die just slid over into the other compartment!
So you close the door, tilt the box so the audience hears the block slide to the left compartment, and again tell them that the block is gone, opening the right side door this time. The audience will be very eager to tell you that the die has just slid over to the left- it has not really disappeared. Or so they think!
And here is where the magic happens! This time, you open the right side AND the left side doors at the same time- and the block is indeed gone! Better still, you open the top two doors AND take the sliding panels out of the sides so the audience can see right through the box FROM ALL ANGLES AND SIDES!
And THEN you reach into the hat that was sitting on your table all along- and the yellow block is in the hat!
