VERY RARE vintage Blackstone Sr. item from the estate collection of a retired professional magician who was a personal friend of Blackstone.
Perform magic along with Blackstone Sr.!This is a really unusual item, a concept that never caught on, so it's quite a novelty.
On this LP, Harry Blackstone Sr. performs several easy but entertaining magic tricks with ordinary items. The idea is that YOU are supposed to perform the tricks for your audience, using the voice of Blackstone as your patter!
There are six effects on the two-sided LP, with musical interludes in between.
SIDE ONE:"Stars and Stripes Forever Merengue"A Card Miracle"Stairway To the Moon"A Ten Card Surprise"Abracadabra" A Mathematical Discovery
SIDE TWO:"Marimba Merengue"A Coin Twister"My Wild Irish Rose"A Matter of Figures"Hocus Pocus" A Little Nonsense
The graphics on the album cover are definitely 1960's retro! This would look great on your magic shelf!
Harry Bouton Blackstone (born Henry Boughton; September 27, 1885 – November 16, 1965) was a famed 20th century stage magician and illusionist. Blackstone was born Harry Bouton in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career as a magician in his teens and was popular through World War II as a USO entertainer. He was often billed as The Great Blackstone. His son Harry Blackstone Jr. also became a famous magician. Blackstone Sr. was aided by his younger brother, Pete Bouton, who was the stage manager in all his shows. When not on tour, Blackstone lived on an island he called Blackstone Island. It was near Colon, Michigan, where he had a brief stint as co-owner of the Blackstone Magic Company. His partner in the business – which lasted only 18 months – was an Australian magician named Percy Abbott. After Blackstone and Abbott dissolved the company, Abbott, five years later, restarted his own magic manufacturing business in Colon. Called Abbott's Magic Novelty Company, the enterprise is still in business today.
