CIRCA 1975 and PRETTY RARE- ESPECIALLY IN THIS COLOR!The most recent sale we could find was $88.00 in 2016.From the collection of a retired professional magician and magic collector.
This clever bag was designed by Syd Bergson (1904-1980), a well-known mid-20th century American magician/mentalist and magic dealer.A variation of KUROTSUKE, It uses a different principle, one that is very easy to operate. The effect was introduced in 1972, and was on the market for only a brief time because Bergson felt it was too costly to make.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EFFECT: The magician shows a cloth bag and a set of five glass marbles- four golden and one black. As he places each of the balls into the bag, the magician explains that whoever chooses the black ball will be "blackballed", or eliminated. Some performers add the colorful story of the Mafia using this technique to choose a member as the executioner for a rival mobster. The magician turns his head away, and each of five spectators reaches into the bag, removes one of the balls and looks at it, and then replaces it into the bag. By using his "psychic powers", the magician determines which of the spectators is the blackballed volunteer.
