Made for Alexander Herrmann in the late 19th century, this is considered to be the first known example of a true scaling card. Herrmann was a skilled card scaler; aiming cards accurately into the audience became a featured part of his act. Herrmann is thought to be the first major magician to use scaling cards both as a performance skill and as a promotional vehicle.
