This version is done with gimmicked coins. So it's completely mechanical and easy to do!
Show two coins- a half dollar and an English penny. Place them in your closed hand. Remove one, show it, and place it in your pocket. Open your hand- BOTH coins are still there! Repeat this several times, if you wish. Finally at the end, after removing a coin and placing it in your pocket, open your hand- it's empty! Now both coins have vanished!
This set is sometimes called SUN & MOON Hopping Half. The coins are all specially gimmicked for this set.It is called "non-expanded" because the gimmick is the exact same size as a half dollar; IT IS NOT MEANT be used as a shell over a real half dollar.
Looking for the set that uses a shell? That set is called EXPANDED Hopping Half.It is available below. In that set, you use a real half dollar and the gimmick is "expanded"- it is a shell that fits OVER the regular half dollar. That gimmick can be used as a shell for other coin routines. The EXPANDED Hopping Half is therefore more expensive.
And that's all you need.
Make sure you don't spend the trick coin by mistake!Keep your trick coins safe and separate from other coins. Keep them in a COIN CARRIER.See the different styles of coin carriers and cases for sale here.
J.N. Hofzinzer invented the Coin Shell in the mid-1800s. Conrad Haden invented the Expanded Shell. Then Jim Boyd took both ideas and developed the Hopping Half trick in 1967.
