The bat is a symbol of rebirth (emerging from the cave) and revitalization. To those who use it as a totem, it symbolizes dedication to self-improvement, developing a keen awareness of your environment, and gaining the ability to have prophetic dreams.
"Steampunk" is the name given to the popular art movement that combines fantasy with industrialized design, where romance meets machines. Often, steampunk creations feature hardware such as watch parts, gears and clock faces, mixed with Victorian era elements and embellishments. The idea is to make an intricate-looking mechanical design by mixing unlikely and unexpected elements. The result is jewelry that you'll look at again and again, seeing new and different details and meanings every time.
This steampunk creation was handcrafted by jewelry artist Jackie Monticup of White Rabbit Jewelry here in Virginia. It is her own design, and is one of a kind. There will never be another pendant like this one- you will own the only one in the world!
The bat stamping is a reproduction of a Victorian German design. The gears, pins, springs and enamel watch face are authentic vintage watch parts, meticulously and individually mounted into the piece.
This is a delicate art piece. Of course, this necklace is meant to be worn, but worn with care. Rough handling may cause some of the parts to bend or detach. Should that happen, you may mail the piece back to us and Jackie will repair it for you at no cost except for shipping.
