What a startling coin effect!

Show two coins, a half dollar and an English penny. Place them in your closed hand. Remove one, show it, place it in your pocket. Open your hand- both coins are still there! Repeat this several times, if you wish. Finally, as a climax, after removing a coin and placing it in your pocket, open your hand- it's empty! Both coins have vanished!

Completely mechanical and easy to do. This version is done with all gimmicked coins.

The Expanded Shell version uses real coins and expanded shells.

History and Trivia:
J.N. Hofzinzer invented the Coin Shell in the mid-1800s. Conrad Haden invented the Expanded Shell. Then Jim Boyd took both ideas and developed the Hopping Half trick in 1967.

Is it illegal to use real US coins to make magic tricks? According to the U.S. Treasury F.A.Q., the answer is- No.
It is only illegal to alter a US coin with the intention of spending it as if it were a coin of a different value.
From the official U.S. Treasury website: "Section 331 of Title 18 of the United States code provides criminal penalties for anyone who 'fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the Mints of the United States.' This statute means that you may be violating the law if you change the appearance of the coin and fraudulently represent it [in a monetary transaction in trade for goods or services] to be other than the altered coin that it is. As a matter of policy, the U.S. Mint does not promote coloring, plating or altering U.S. coinage: however, there are no sanctions against such activity absent fraudulent intent.

Great Set, Great Price
I recently purchased this set from here and will attest to its high quality. I''''ve had a couple of days now to work the coins in and they are operating very smoothly. This set is precision made where you can happily show both sides of the coins throughout without ever fearing anything showing or flashing. Unlike most coin routines, during ''''Hopping Half'''' both sides of both coins can be openly and comfortably displayed which is why many of my magic cohorts, myself included, consider it to be the best coin magic trick ever. It''''s an easy brain blaster and this set does the job pleasingly.
