Abbott is
most famous for founding Abbott's Magic
Co. in Colon, MI. Having owned several magic supply companies
in Australia in the early 1900's, he first cofounded and operated the Blackstone Magic Company
in Colon, MI with Harry Blackstone Sr. from
1929-31. In 1933, he opened Abbott's Magic Manufacturing Company with partner
Recil Bordner.
Along with manufacturing countless
tricks and stage illusions, he made a
classic effect called Squash,
so
popular that it is
touted
by Abbott's as the Trick That Built the
Abbott Magic Company.
He also published of TOPS magazine and
created the
annual Abbott's Get-Together magic convention.
