History and Trivia:
Scaling cards (or "throw out" cards) are specially-printed playing cards that were used by many famous magicians. During their performances, these magicians would magically produce lots of playing cards, then toss or "scale" the cards way out over the heads of their audiences. Some of the cards would boomerang back onstage, and some cards would fall into the crowd to be treasured as souvenirs. Some cards were also sold them to fans and collectors. Many of these items are very collectible, and some are extremely hard to find. Stage magicians Howard Thurston and Alexander Herrmann were famous for their skills at scaling cards to the people sitting in the balconies- quite a distance!

Card Throwing
It is really hard to find any good instruction on card throwing so I was happy to find this DVD. Ben Salinas is an excellent teacher. He speaks really clearly which is a plus. There are camera angles from both the audience's view and the dealer's view which is another plus. I bought the DVD for the card scaling but I was also happy with the rest of the material on the DVD. There is a lot covered here certainly and you are bound to learn at least a couple of fancy useful moves that will spice up your routines.
